Allah swt tells us that if we strive to help our fellow Muslims in any way, He will certainly assist us with difficult affairs of our own. Therefore, a few weeks ago, whilst in salah and praying to Allah to help me with some personal difficulties I was facing, I asked Him to produce for me an opportunity to help my fellow Muslims. A short while later, I was blessed with an idea: to utilise my love of writing to produce an online resource of help and support for new Muslims much like myself. And so, by the grace of Allah, here it is…
I converted to Islam in February 2014 at the age of 25. Since then, by the mercy and grace of my Maker, I cannot believe how much I have learnt and how much I have overcome. There is still so much for me to learn – so much so that I will be continuing to learn and make new discoveries, God willing, until the day I die – yet Islam has taken me to emotional and spiritual highs I could not even begin to comprehend in my previous days as a non-Muslim.
I still have days of difficulty; I have days of weakness amongst my days of strength; I have days of sadness amongst my days of happiness; these are just realities of life. But as I begin to feel more established in my new identity, and as I feel the dust settle into that safe feeling of ‘normality’ after the shake-up of the many lifestyle changes that a new religion brings, I feel an urge to reach out to other new Muslims who are on a path similar to mine.
Becoming a Muslim means becoming a member of the biggest family on Earth – the Islamic ummah. It is our right and responsibility to help and support each other, and that’s what I hope to achieve and facilitate, Allah willing, through this website. I hope the stories and articles I share will be enlightening and entertaining, and I hope this will be your first of many visits to this site.
