Asalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh (may the blessings and peace of God be upon you)

If you’ve found your way to this humble site, chances are you’re maybe a new Muslim, a ‘born’ Muslim newly discovering your faith, or someone who just has a vague interest in what the Islamic religion is all about. Whatever your purpose in stumbling upon us, we wish you a very warm welcome 🙂

After The Shahadah is a project set up by a Muslim convert, who wanted to share and celebrate the joys and beauty they have found in Islam, along with documenting some of the more challenging experiences faced when transforming your religion and lifestyle. It is our hope that in sharing our own experiences, challenges and discoveries, we might just be able to help one or two others who are travelling a similar journey.

“Do people think that once they say, ‘We believe’, they will be left alone and not be put to the test?” – Qur’an 29: 2

Along with providing basic advice and how-to’s for the everyday Muslim lifestyle, one of the main things we hope to provide through After The Shahadah is some genuine uplifting support. There is a lot to learn in Islam. When becoming a new Muslim or returning to your faith, you are likely to face many life changes; some which you might implement easily overnight, and some which might take years to connect with. And that’s totally OK.

Allah, through His superior wisdom, revealed the Qur’an in gradual stages over a period of 23 years. The religion was not revealed all at once, and nor is anyone expected to completely know, understand and complete their religion all at once. Be gentle with yourself, take it step by step, and enjoy the journey. As long as your intentions are sincerely to please Allah and seek nearness to Him, with His help you will be just fine. Allah says:

Take one step towards Me, I will take ten steps towards you. Walks towards Me, I will run towards you.

Every reminder we publish is for ourselves first and foremost, and anything good to come from this work is from Allah the Most High. Any errors are from Shaytaan, our enemy, may Allah forgive us and be our Protector. We welcome any corrections or suggestions regarding any mistakes we make within this work. We are just human after all.

May we enjoy this journey together, and may it be one of strength, unity, positivity, brotherhood/sisterhood, and love for the sake of Allah.
