Islam is not a religion confined to just laws, rules and obligations. There is a huge emphasis within the faith on behaviours and etiquettes, for example kindness, patience, tolerance, and respect for all of creation.
Without doubt, the best person to look at for lessons and examples of the type of character all Muslims should be striving to embody, is the Messenger himself, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).
His lifestyle, habits and example are what we know as the Prophet’s ‘Sunnah’, and it is a topic I love to study and discuss, as there are many very simple and easy-to-implement habits that we can bring into our everyday lives, starting from the moment we learn about them. He (PBUH) is a man who guarded his health and spirituality with great wisdom and direct guidance from Allah. As followers of Islam, we are confident that any habit learned from Muhammad (PBUH) will be a habit that benefits us, often in ways we cannot even measure.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is reported to have said, “I leave behind me two things, the Qur’an and my Sunnah, and if you follow these you will never go astray.”
